Sometimes I think the WT is mocking the masses
by NikL inas in today's study.... 18 to lie is to say something untruthful.
(as in millions now living will never die, this generation will by no means pass away, allegations of pedophile abuse of children in congregations is apostate lies) however, jehovah wants his people to go beyond not telling outright lies.
he urged the ancient israelites: “you should be holy, because i, jehovah your god, am holy.” then he gave examples of being holy.

As I just commented on the "one drop of poison in a glass of water" post just a few seconds ago....
Wt like to be the FIRST one to say something (before they can be accused) so that they can childishly say, "We said it first, so we are the right ones"
Their hypocrisy and audacity is maddening.

"would you drink a glass of water if it had just a tiny bit of poison in it?"
by stuckinarut2 inno doubt we have all heard that well used "illustration" in public talks etc over the years:.
"if you were handed a glass of water that looked pure, but were told it has just a tiny drop of poison in it, would you drink it?".
the society has used that illustration at length to say we should avoid all influences of every part of the world.. but, as we know, the society has had a track record of errors, false ideas and doctrines.

This is one of the reasons I .... "hate".... the WT so much...
They try to make the "first" accusation:
"Would you drink it if it had one drop of poison in it?"
"What kind of religion would not let you question it, wouldn't that make you suspicious?"
"We abhoooooorrrrr child abuse!"
So that they can say, "We said it first, so it can't be us!"

If these elders are held accountable, and have to pay money, or even serve jail time, who will want to be an elder??? -

The handling of child abuse allegations
by Landy inthere's a lot of criticism surrounding the jw's handling of chiild abuse within their ranks with a lot of it being well deserved.
but i'm interested to know how people on here think child abuse allegations should be handled.
there's a few scenarios below, the first couple are easy then it gets a bit more complex.

When you involve "the congregation/ elders" you are in danger of being DFD for gossiping or whatever else they want to call it.
You have more chance of being DFD for being a victim than being a perpetual.
That should also be a crime.

Do you think I should get something for my wife for her birthday?
by schnell inmy wife is still nominally in, but only because it "makes me (her) happy".
there is nothing academic about her beliefs and when i try, she interprets me as negative.. but then she cusses like a sailor and watches certain movies with me.
her birthday is coming up and it's also right around valentine's day.

Totally! a wrapped gift... hmmmm, Do you know her style in earrings?
and also, a gift of 'dancing lessons'? some thing you do together, that makes her say, "Hey, I like doing this better than going to meetings?" Plus it gets her brain out of 'meetingville', haha!
On the card, "Just because I love you"
Good luck, let us know how it goes!

8 million JWs times $1 a month is $8,000,000 a month, times 12 months is $96 million a year.
$2.10 a month from 8 million JWs almost gives you $201,600,000 a year.
I know of at least two people so far who have willed their entire belongings, house included, to the WT. One house must have been worth at least $600,000, the other? at least $400,000. Plus their cars, jewelry, everything.
Plus, it seems like every 3 months or so the WT writes the congregation, "Do you think you could get your publishers to donate a few dollars for xxx fund?"
The WT has a cool racket going.

UK: Paul Shields "abused girls after luring them with video games"

However, if this person is a pedophile, he has most likely abused many others. Coming forward to the police and reporting the CRIME is the best thing a person can do. If Paul Shields has abused others, and they come forward and report the CRIME, then perhaps justice can be served.
Keeping it "in the congregation" no justice will be served. It is a CRIME, the elders are not police, judges or courts. It is a CRIME, and it must be reported.

Why is reporting to the police a valuable thing?
1. It protects other people from having the same thing happen to them... How? If Pedo assaults more than one child, a pattern is recorded. What if the Pedo does it in more than one city? The Police have a record, the person can then be arrested.
2. It protects "worldly" people. Instead of keeping it "in the org" the Pedo will have a harder time continuing his profession. That is why Peds are put on a list, and neighborhoods are warned when they move into them. It gives people a chance to protect themselves.
3. If it is reported to the police, you will sleep better, knowing you have done the right thing. Who knows what child you will have saved from a lifetime of trauma?

Yep, I am just going to say one more time...... "Don't tell people what you know" "Don't ask them questions" "Don't think that you can convince them with facts"
You will not win with facts.... You cannot use facts. Their brains are wired to turn off, they will shake, their eyes will roll, they will run.
All I told a friend was "I was teaching someone that the people from Sodom and Gomorrah would be resurrected, I asked the B.S. "Will they?" She replied, "no, the Bible says no" and I replied, "What does the paragraph say?" (I hated it when I said it, but I did anyway)
So I tell my friend, "a few months later, the Society changes the teaching to "No, Sodom & Gomorrah will NOT be resurrected" and that is not the first time they have changed their viewpoint... and that is NOT the light getting brighter, that is the light turning off and on and off and on"
My 'friend' shook, turned pale, backed up, and said, "You need to talk to the elders!!!!"
Now this was a fairly intelligent person, a "pioneer" that talked to 'worldly' people all the time out in service. She had to refute their "wrong ideas about the Bible" all the time. Why could she not answer me? What was so scary? If she had the truth, it should have been easy....
That is the part you must remember. JWs are trained to respond immediately in escape mode... in "Listen Obey & Be Blessed" mode..... right? They are like wild animals that see a human being, they go into panic mode and run!
That being said..... Do...... not..... think..... you.... can.... "explain" / "convince" or anything else....
Read this forum for a while before you decide to do anything. And breathe........ Let it sink in..... breathe..... Like others have said, their is no "undo button." Don't think you are smarter than the WT. They have experience... they know what they ARE doing, and what they HAVE done.
hugs, cha ching
